July 9, 2011

The photo above, taken at the 2009 Fun Day, showing “The Dancing Schnauzers,” has become the logo for our MSCNC Fun Days.

If you missed our Miniature Schnauzer Fun Day—you really missed a day packed with fun, learning, prizes, and a yummy potluck.

The food was delicious and both people and dogs had a really great time. Of course everyone had something in common: our beloved dogs.

Our first event was conformation, and what a great group of dogs we had in the ring. Judy Sousa was the judge with Glendora Norwood assisting. The dogs really had a good time playing “look at me, I'm so pretty / handsome.” They were all winners and they all got a toy as a reward.

Judy judged the Waggiest tail and the dog that would come to her fastest. This was really funny, some of the dogs walked to her and some came running, I heard a rumor that some of the dogs know her—hmmmmm. Again more toys were handed out.

Then came Sarah M. Johnson. For those of you that don't know Sarah, she has been a club member for a few years now and tried her hand at show Conformation with her dog Piper. Some of you may remember the dog show where Sarah and Piper took reserve. When Sarah realized what had just happened, she jumped straight up in the air, let out a big yell and went running to the Judge, threw her arms around him and gave him a big “Thank You” hug. That sight is burned in my memory! Well, anyway, to get back to the Fun Day, Sarah has been an Obedience Instructor for many years now. She put on a short seminar on how to train your dog and why you should train your dog. No one made a sound while she was talking. Lots of interest and she is a great speaker. Thanks again, Sarah!

We set up gates and did recalls over toys—only one dog stopped to sniff a toy, the rest all ran like crazy to get to their owners. We put down obstacles for the dogs to go over, around, and through, and everyone had a great time.

We had drawings throughout the day and everyone went home with a prize.

Judy Sousa and I would like to thank everyone that came to our Fun Day and for the wonderful food you brought with you. You are the ones that make the day worth all the work. The best part of the day is when you come up to us and show off your most beautiful/handsome dogs.

We hope you, your family, and dogs stay Healthy and Happy.

Sincerely,
