"Placement" Animals

Dog show exhibitors, including MSCNC members, occasionally have older puppies or adults for whom they need to find homes because the zoning laws limit the numbers of dogs they are able to keep.  These dogs make ideal pets for those who cannot easily undertake to provide for the time-consuming demands of a young puppy.  They are usually housebroken, past the chewing stage, and poised around strangers.  They are often unusually good animals.  Some are even AKC champions.

Dog breeders usually refer to such animals as "placement" dogs because they are being placed in a new home.  The best way to find such a placement Miniature Schnauzer is to attend a dog show and to ask around among the Miniature Schnauzer exhibitors.  It may well take you a few months to find a placement Miniature Schnauzer, so you will have to be patient if you wish to obtain a placement animal.

Rescue Service

At times even the best of pets loses its homethrough death of the owner, accident, unhappy landlords, etc. The MSCNC regularly rescues Miniature Schnauzers from northern California shelters, from owners who are no longer able to keep their animals, and from relatives and friends of owners who have died or are no longer capable of caring for themselves and their animals.  Rescued Miniature Schnauzers may be older puppies, young adults or older dogs.  The rescued animals are well cared for until new homes can be located.  All rescue dogs are spayed or neutered, receive vaccinations, and are groomed.  A fee for adopting a rescue assists with the costs of this care.

Rescue dogs who need good new homes are available NOW.  See the Rescue Dogs Gallery page.  There may be others who are not yet listed on this website.  Please call the nearest person listed below for further information.

Disclaimer

MSCNC provides its puppy referral service and rescue service to help persons interested in obtaining a Miniature Schnauzer and, in the case of the rescue service, to help save the lives of Miniature Schnauzers whose owners are unable to keep them.

MSCNC asks all of its members to abide by a Code of Ethics but does not monitor or regulate their breeding or their business practices, and does not become involved in disputes between members and their customers.  Accordingly, MSCNC cannot, and does not, guarantee or accept any responsibility for the health, temperament, or any other aspect of animals a buyer may purchase from an MSCNC member or of animals provided through its rescue service.

The Miniature Schnauzer you take into your home will be a member of your family for many years.  A responsible breeder will take the time to try to match you with an animal suitable for you and your family and to provide you with the information you need to have a happy, healthy pet.  MSCNC strongly recommends that you take the time to visit some dog shows where Miniature Schnauzers are being shown, to meet and get to know a number of breeders, and to otherwise become knowledgeable about the breed before buying a Miniature Schnauzer or adopting a rescued Miniature Schnauzer.
